Picky Eaters:

  • Very selective about what foods they will eat
  • Accepts 30 or more foods
  • Want certain foods for many days at a time
  • If tires of food and stops eating it, they will usually accepts the food again after a break from eating it

Food Aversion (Problem Eaters):

  • Accepts only a few foods, usually fewer than 20
  • May have a strong phobic reaction to new foods
  • May not even be able to touch new foods
  • If a food is rejected after eating it for an extended time, they have a hard time accepting the food again
  • May reject entire groups of food
