Diagnostics

Therapy Unlimited offers diagnostic testing for schools and families in the mid-Missouri area. A licensed speech-language pathologist and school psychologist will administer the testing. A licensed psychologist (Ph.D.) will review the testing results and reports as needed. Services are delivered in the Therapy Unlimited clinic and/or school setting, though other arrangements are possible. Testing is available for the following:

  • IQ Testing
  • Dyslexia
  • Central Auditory Processing Disorder (CAPD)
  • General learning disabilities
  • Achievement testing

Intervention

Therapy Unlimited offers reading intervention provided by a learning specialist. Intervention is a structured literacy program based on phonological-coding research and Orton-Gillingham principles called Wilson Reading Program. The intervention directly and systematically teaches the structure of the English language. Through the program, students learn fluent decoding and encoding skills to the level of mastery. From the beginning steps of the program, students receive instruction in:

  • Phonemic awareness
  • Decoding and word study
  • Sight word recognition
  • Spelling
  • Fluency
  • Vocabulary
  • Oral expressive language development
  • Comprehension
